After our trip to Alaska, we discovered that we quite enjoy cruising so we decided to book a short four night cruise to Cork, Ireland for the UK’s August bank holiday weekend.
The ship that we sailed on was the Independence Of The Seas which holds in excess of 4000 guests and 1300 crew. It was huge. The ship was much bigger and had far more facilities than the ship we sailed on in Alaska, however despite this we actually preferred the smaller ship in Alaska as the Independence Of The Seas was geared more towards families with children.
They have a FlowRider surf simulator, rock-climbing wall and even a nine-hole miniature golf course.
As this was only a short cruise, most of the time was spent on the ship while cruising or docked in Cobh so we spent our time relaxing and enjoying the amenities on board. Cobh is about half an hour south east of Cork. While docked, we took an excursion to Blarney Castle and walked along the dock admiring the surrounding area.
